At its Restricted Session on 15 December 2016, the Council approved the time frame for the  next update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, defining May 2020 as the optimum  date for the Council’s approval of the updated Strategy, together with an amendment to the applicable procedural framework, set out in document CERN/3092/Rev.2

At its Closed Session on 14 June 2018, the Council decided, by consensus, the venues for :

• The Open Symposium                   Granada, Spain (13-16 May 2019)
   
• The Strategy Drafting Session       Bad Honnef, Germany (20-24 January 2020)
