CHANGE IN THE EUROPEAN DELEGATION TO FALC

The Council unanimously decided to appoint Professor R. Heuer, Director-General of CERN with effect from 1 January 2009, as new member of the European delegation to FALC starting on 1 January 2009, replacing R. Aymar.

 

THE FORTHCOMING FALC MEETING

The Council took note of the information provided by the President and Professor Spiro on the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of FALC in Madrid on 19 January 2009.

 

PROGRESS REPORT ON THE NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION

The Council took note of the progress report by the Director-General and the President.

 

RECOGNITION AND FOLLOW-UP OF PROJECTS RELEVANT TO THE EUROPEAN STRATEGY FOR PARTICLE PHYSICS

The Council took note of document CERN/SPC/914-CERN-Council-S/030 and of the presentation by the Scientific Secretary and the report by the Chairman of the Scientific Policy Committee and unanimously decided to approve the procedure set out in section 3 relating to the recognition and follow-up of projects relevant to the European Strategy for Particle Physics by the European Strategy Sessions of Council. The Council further agreed that the document could be placed in the public domain.

 

RECOGNITION OF FOUR EU FP7 R&D PROJECTS AS ONGOING PROJECTS IN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE EUROPEAN STRATEGY FOR PARTICLE PHYSICS

The Council took note of document CERN/SPC/913-CERN-Council-S/031, of the presentation by the Scientific Secretary and of the report by the Chairman of the Scientific Policy Committee and, on the proposal of the Strategy Secretariat, unanimously decided to recognise the EU FP7 projects SLHC-PP, ILC-HiGrade, EUROν and EUCARD as ongoing projects in the framework of the European Strategy for Particle Physics. The Council further agreed that the document could be placed in the public domain.
